Vintage Piecework Christmas Ornament

My Grandmother’s quilt was very worn and old. It was tied with batting and was all bunched up. I removed the ties to separate the layers, and cut off the edge where it was connected to the backing.

Now, I could start making the ornaments!

  1. Buy some plastic inexpensive ornaments.
  2. Cut a circle of the old vintage quilt that is big enough to stretch over the ball. (experiment with sizes of circles)
  3. Wrap it around the ornament.
  4. Before tying the ribbon I wrote on it. “Made by Hannah Hutchinson Davidson” and on the other end of the ribbon ” Made in early 1900s”
  5. Tie the ribbon around the top.
