How to Cover a Grocery Bag

Measure the sides and bottom of the bag.  Add one inch to the fashion fabric measurement at the top. The sides of the fabric should be the same width as the bag.  Fold over a ½ hem on each top.

You can add a vintage linen or lace to your fashion fabric centering it so it fits the front and back. 

Cut a binding 2.5 inches wide, and long enough to go all the way around on both sides and botton and add an inch for good measure! (refer to first measurement. )  Fold in half. 

Sew at the top of the hem of both front and back of the bag.  Pin the sides so it is accurate.

Attach and finish the binding as you normally do to the sides- folding in the binding at the top so it has a finished look.
